Spa & Pool Rental Info

6' Spa-N-A-Box

Our Spa-N-A-Box Labor Pool Kit provides all of the great benefits of other smaller birth pools such as the Gentle Birth Pool (5') and the AquaDoula (4.5') and has the added benefit of a thermostatically controlled recirculating heating system. The Spa is built with a thermal air system that creates hydrotherapy massaging bubbles which can be turned on or off at any time.

The walls of the Spa are thick and sturdy enough to allow the mom or a birth attendant to sit on the rim. The Spa-in-a-Box Kit also comes with its own locking cover, which makes it ideal for use in homes with small children.

The Spa-N-A-Box is ideal for long-term prenatal use (up to two weeks between water replacements) for hypertension, cholestasis (Pregnancy Itch), severe swelling/edema, or musculoskeletal pain, or for women expecting very fast births who want the tub set up and ready to go at a moment's notice without draining/refilling every other day.

This pool meets hospital infection control requirements. Hospitals often need several months to gain all the necessary permissions for pool use.

The Spa in a Box Birth Pool Rental Kit comes to your home or hospital in 3 boxes / containers.

Please note: Availability is generally on a first come, first serve basis, although priority is given to clients who are using our birth services. So please call us first before sending in your rental agreement and deposit.

Renting a Birth Pool

We encourage clients to reserve a pool as soon as possible, preferably at least 8 - 10 weeks before your estimated due date.  We normally fill up our calendar quite quickly, and those who have waited until the end of their pregnancy are generally out of luck.  While we occasionally have a pool available as late as the week before a birth, it is best to get your reservation in early to ensure your waterbirth.

Please Note: The birth spa needs to be set up no more than 9½’ from a grounded 3-prong outlet - extension cords MAY NOT BE USED due to safety concerns.  The spa must also be set up within 45’ of an indoor water supply (sink faucet, shower, water heater, washing machine hookup).

If you are interested in water labor &/or birth and would like to rent a birth pool, you will need:

1. A desire to have a drug-free labor and birth experience
2. A signed rental agreement
3. A form of payment - check, cash or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover) [PayPal is no longer accepted]

Because of the many variables with due dates and questions from couples, we need to have a personal conversation with all prospective pool renters before completing your registration. If you are interested in renting a portable birth pool, please feel free to call us at 1 (224) 636-7959 or send an e-mail to   info  at  Birth-Essentials  dot   com
